Fall Pasión y Arte Conservatory Classes begin Tuesday, 9/3!
All classes are held at the Overbrook Garage Studio, 6411 Overbrook Avenue, Philadelphia, 19151.
BEGINNERS Through ADVANCED, ADULTS and CHILDREN:
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED: Tuesday 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
ADVANCED BEGINNER: Wednesday- 7:30-9:00pm
BASIC BEGINNER FLAMENCO: Saturday 11:00am-12:30pm
CHILDREN’S BASIC BEGINNER: Saturday 12:30-1:30pm
The cost per class is $15, or you can purchase a 6 class card for $78.
DancePass member rate: $10.

BASIC BEGINNER FLAMENCO | Saturday 11am-12:30pm
The beginning student is introduced to simpler palos (rhythm families) through a series of specific studies:
1) Flamenco posture
2) Torso and shoulder exercises for the flamenco movement
3) Exercising the wrist, palm and fingers (hand movements)
4) Exercising the head and arms
5) Basic head and arm positions
6) Exercising the hips
7) Putting the exercises into sequence
Postures for footwork and basic blows
9) Sequences of footwork with body and skirt movement to the various flamenco rhythms
10) Exercises of palmas (hand clapping) to increase rhythmic understanding
11) Sequences of movements with application of all the above in the various flamenco palos and cante
CHILDREN’S BASIC BEGINNER | Saturday 12:30-1:30
Applying all of the above specifics on Flamenco Technique using simple imagery and an interactive approach.
ADULT BEGINNER | Wednesday- 7:30-9:00pm
The advanced beginner has some experience in Flamenco and understands concepts of the posture, arm and hand positions.
Building on these concepts we will explore connecting all these components to larger phrases por alegrias, tangos and bulerias de Cadiz.
We will study different palmas to the various palos.
Incorporate footwork technique with arms and body movements
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED | Tuesday 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Further and more in depth study of the various flamenco palos (rhythm families), including Soleares, Alegrias, Seguiriyas, Guajiras. Understanding the compas (rhythmic unit) of the various palos. Students use the arm and footwork techniques they have acquired in BEGINNING FLAMENCO and apply them to the more complex choreographic elements.
