| Biography:
Raquel Heredia Reyes was born into a family of strong artistic tradition on March 19th, 1979. Raquel debuted alongside her mother, Rafaela "La Repompa de Málaga" Reyes Porras, at the age of 15. Since then, her career as a flamenco dancer has taken her to places such as New York, Miami, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Morocco, Japan and Holland. Aside from soloist performances in flamenco meccas such as Seville's Lope de Vega Theatre and Madrid's Teatro Apolo and Colegio de Médicos, Raquel has worked alongside figures el Güito and Manolete, and has performed in the companies of Juan Andrés Maya and los Habichuela. In 2002 she moved from New York to Granada where she founded her own company, "Amangue," which put on shows in tablaos and theatres throughout the city. Aside from her many performances, Raquel is a dedicated teacher. She gave her first workshops and classes at Fazil's Times Square Studios in Manhattan, and has continued to teach in Spain. She currently resides in Malaga where she performs and teaches both local students and visiting Americans. |
