The Feria de Sevilla in Philadelphia

May 7th and 8th, 2005

 

The first day of the Feria de Sevilla in Philadelphia will begin with 2 distinct events.

10am to 6pm, Saturday, May 7th, 2005

First on Saturday afternoon, Fiesta Flamenco dancers of Philadelphia and Centro Cultural de Latinos Unidos of Pottstown will collaborate to present an educational caseta at the Philadelphia International Children's Festival. The caseta will feature flamenco workshops from 10am to 5pm. Then at 6pm the Fiesta Flamenco dancers will perform on Stageworks at the Festival.

8pm to 10pm, Saturday, May 7th, 2005

Then, Saturday evening some of the best known professional flamenco artists on the East coast will present exciting, authentic flamenco performances on the Zellerbach stage. The peformance will begin at 6pm at the Annenberg Center at 37th & Walnut Streets in Philadelphia. Performing will be Tito & Anna Rubio with special guest Antonio Hidalgo in a presentation of Herencia Arabe, AND Elba Hevia Y Vaca and her ensemble will present the premiere of La Luna de Par en Par (The Moon Wide Open) Part II.

Pit and rows A - M = $33, rows N - T = $28, Balcony = $24.
Staff, alumni, students & senior citizens get $4 off with i.d.

Sunday, May 8th, 2005 from 3pm to 10pm
What better way to spend Mother's day than enjoying day of fun in the traditional Feria style at International House (located at 3701 Chestnut Street in University City in Philadelphia.) The second day of the Feria will have casetas featuring sevillanas, flamenco music and vendors, in addition to carriage rides. The evening will conclude with performances by Edwin Aparicio and special guest Carmela Greco, daughter of the late Jose Greco.

International House tickets are:
Fair only = $10 general admission, $8 members, students and seniors, $6 for children under 12.
Fair & IHouse performance = $22 general admission, $20 members & students, $12 for children under 12.
Admission to I house is $2 less with a ticket from Annenberg.
