Adrián Galia is recognized as one of the most talented dancers of our
times worldwide, a prestigious dance teacher and a fine choreographer.

Son of renowned flamenco masters (Olga Maria Marcioni "La China" and
Jorge Luis Caviglia), he was born in 1965 in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
His early training began at the National Ballet of Spain under the
direction of "the great Antonio".  Since then, Adrián has been Principal Dancer in all of Spain's prestigious flamenco and classical Spanish dance companies

In 1996 Adrián presented his own company , Adrián Galia´s Flamencos
Company, at the festival "Madrid en Danza", producing the acclaimed
"En Clave Flamenca" (1996) and "Pensando Flamenco" (1999). In 1997, he
danced in the presentation "OMEGA", in collaboration with Enrique
Morente
and the rock group Lagartija Nick. Adrián is the author of a
21-video flamenco encyclopedia, one of the finest didactic
compilations for professionals and dance students, "Paso a Paso los
Palos del Flamenco".

Since 2004, Adrián is the Principal Dancer of the Antonio Gades Company intensively touring Spain and the world with the productions once created by Antonio Gades: Carmen, Suite Flamenca, Bodas de Sangre and Fuenteovejuna.

BIO

Born in Madrid, Spain, daughter of the celebrated Spanish dancer, José Greco, Carmela began studying dance at age 11. 

Before forming her own dance company in 1980, she was a member of many prestigious dance companies and has performed and taught all over the world.

Carmela has danced in popular “tablaos” throughout Spain including: Torres Bermejas, Café de Chinitas, Corral de la Morería, Los Canasteros and Corral de la Pacheca.

In 1998 she joined her father’s company and made her NY debut at the Joyce Theater.  In that same year, she joined the instructors at the famous dance academy “Amor de Dios”, In Madrid.  In 1995, she performed as guest artist with the company of José Greco II in the Flamenco Festival in Albuquerque, the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami and the Lincoln Center in NY.  In 1998 she performed at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow, in Becket, MA.

In 1999, together, with her sister Lola Greco, they presented the production “Raza” in the Bellas Artes Theater in Madrid which subsequently lead to a tour in Italy to participate in renowned gala events.

In 2002 she toured Japan for 6 months with her own company and later returned to Japan with the production “Climax”.  This production was created with Lola Greco and Jose Greco II in honor of their late father, Jose Greco.  She danced in the Bienanial in Sevilla under the direction of Paco Suárez, in “Orestes in Lisboa” appearing with top artists such as Rafael Carrasco, Manuel Reyes, Antonio Reyes and Alejandro Granados.

 

Carmela continues to lead her dance company and conduct workshops and master classes throughout the world.

Flamenco Workshop in Doyelstown with Melinda Hedgecorth

Melinda Hedgecorth has lived in Sevilla since 2004, performing as a professional soloist and with years of experience as a flamenco teacher of all levels. She comes to Ballet Arts of Bucks County to teach a beginning/intermediate level flamenco technique workshop in Doylestown from July 24 - 26. Hours are tentatively scheduled for 6-8pm each day. Each day is $35 and the whole workshop is $90. Ballet Arts is located at 7 Taylor Ave in the center of Doylestown.
